Kangana Ranaut's Jayalalithaa biopic Thalaivi to include Arvind Swami?

The role of late politician MG Ramachandran MGR in Kangana Ranaut-starrer Thalaivi will be attempted by Arvind Swami. The movie to start after Diwali.

Popular actor from the south, Arvind Swami is reportedly set to play the role of MGR in the biopic of J Jayalalithaa called Thalaivi. The Jayalalithaa biopic’s producers, starring Kangana Ranaut in the lead role, officially roped in the south Indian actor Arvind Swamy for the actor-turned-politician M G Ramachandran role. Thalaivi is a multilingual film expected to kick start after Diwali 2019. Arvind Swami is mainly known for his work in Tamil cinema but has been a popular face in Hindi films as well.

Arvind Swami joining the biopic of J Jayalalitha? 

According to news agency IANS and an entertainment portal's report, Arvind Swamy will appear in the biopic of Jayalalithaa. He is best remembered for his roles in the Roja and Bombay directed by Mani Ratnam. From the first week of November, the group will kick off the shoot of Thalaivi in Mysore with Kangana Ranaut. Their shoot is reportedly scheduled to begin sometime in November.

Producer Vishnu Vardhan Induri was quoted by the portal saying that Arvind meets both of the parameters. He said that they needed someone who has a pan-India charm and looks like MGR. Arvind and Kangana’s on-screen pair will be new. He also added that it took a lot of time to sign on the dotted line because he wanted to spend enough time training for the part.

Jayalalitha's first movie with MGR was Aayirathil Oruvan by BR Panthalu in 1965 and their last movie together was Pattikaathu Ponnaiya in 1973. They have also co-starred in films like Adilmai Penn, Rahasya Police 115, Kadhal Vaganam, Kudiyiruntha Koyil, Chandrodhayam, and many more.

Kangana Ranaut is now training for the film and the team of the actress has posted on the social media handle of her taking dance lessons and undertaking practice of using prosthetics for the part.
