Athiya Shetty looks back at Deepika Padukone's visit to JNU, advises 'haters gonna hate'

Athiya Shetty in an interview opened up about Deepika Padukone's visit to JNU and stated that it was quite 'courageous' for her to do so as it requires 'guts'.

Deepika Pukone's mere presence at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) set in motion a chain of reactions from both sides of political fence, and also somewhat divided Bollywood. Amid imminent release of her prestige project, Chhapaak, Pukone h attended Left-dominated Students' Union protest joining Kanhaiya Kumar (though CPI(M)leer and former JNUSU president later claimed that he did t see her re as he was busy sloganeering).

Athiya Shetty on Deepika Pukone's JNU visit 

In a conversation with a media publication, Athiya Shetty lent her thoughts on Deepika Pukone's JNU visit. Calling act 'courous', Motichoor Chaknachoor actress emphasised that while it is 'very easy to sit behind a computer screen or phone and comment', it takes a lot of 'guts', to show up and stand up for a movement. 

Elaborating furr about backlash Deepika received for her brave step, she ded, “You can listen to haters but haters are going to hate.”

Speaking about her reactions to situation, Deepika h earlier said in an interview that whatever she wanted to say she h said it two years ago when Pmaavat was released. She ded that what she is seeing today, it pains her. She also hoped that it doesn’t become 'new rmal' where anyone can say anything and y can get away with it. Deepika was in Delhi with her director Meghna Gulzar and co-star Vikrant Massey to promote her n-upcoming film, Chhapaak

At that time, several Bollywood celebrities in likes of Anurag Kashyap, Taapsee Pannu, Vishal Bhardwaj, Ali Fazal, Richa Chha, and Zoya Akhtar, among ors, participated in a protest held at Gateway of India in Mumbai. And, after Deepika Pukone's JNU visit happened, several members of fraternity rushed to support actress and lauded her for decision, though at same time, she was called out for using visit as a 'PR stunt'.
