The movie had Ayushmann Khurrana playing the role of Karam Singh, and Nushrat Bharucha playing the role of Mahi, his fiance. In an interview to a leading daily, the actor expressed his desire to portray a negative character on screen. He wishes to portray a character like Joaquin Phoenix's character from the recently released Joker. According to him, it is a character that does not conform to societal niceties. While the recently released Joker is garnering positive reviews from all quarters, actor Ayushmann Khurrana was also all praises for the story and Joaquin Phoenix's character. According to the actor, the character represents a side of a personality, which the society fails to acknowledge.

On the professional front, the actor is gearing up for the release of Bala. The movie, starring Ayushmann, Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam in the lead, narrates the tales of a man suffering from premature balding and how he tries to cope up with the situation. The trailer of the upcoming movie was recently released. It has amped up the expectations of the audience. The comedy film, directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Maddock Films, is all set to release on November 7, 2019.
