Ayushmann Khurrana lends support to empower Delhi-based women ragpickers and encourages them to be self-reliant this Raksha Bandhan by supporting their cause

Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana is extending help and empowering women ragpickers, based in New Delhi this Raksha Bandhan. Ayushmann and wife Tahira Kashyap have been associated with a n-profit organisation named Gulmeher, for years. NGO looks after se women and encours m to be self-reliant by fuelling ir inner passion for art and craft.  Badhai Ho sought support for m from 'fellow citizens' to help m generate income during on-going COVID-19 crisis.

Ayushmann stands with empowerment of women ragpickers

Gulmeher is a women's collective of waste-pickers turned artisans. NGO works with around 200 women ragpickers and contributes to helping m look after mselves as well as ir families. This year around, women of Gulmeher have taken it upon mselves to make and sell Rakhis, while its proceeds will go towards ir sustenance and well-being. Recently, Ayushmann lent his support to  cause and is trying his level best to bring in as much attention for m as he can.

Khurrana stated, "Tahira and I are deeply and emotionally invested in Gulmeher. organisation is doing outstanding work to support this needy segment of population in Delhi. With pandemic, y are most at risk and are also ecomically vulnerable. ir flow of income has been impacted greatly.”

Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan actor added, "Rakhi symbolises love and a bond between brors and sisters. m making rakhis for fellow citizens of our country to buy and support ir cause symbolises a celebration of self-reliance. Let’s support our fellow brors and sisters. We want to empower m so that y can have various avenues to generate income & support ir families. We feel that’s a step in right direction.”

Meanwhile, t so long ago, superstar celebrated one year of his highly-lauded film Article 15. crime-drama was both written and directed by filmmaker Anubhav Sinha and was t only a critical success but also performed exceptionally well at box office. Sharing a coll of glimpses from film on his Instagram handle, Khurrana captioned post, "#1YearOfArticle15".
