During promotions of Bajirao Mastani, Ranveer Singh talked about his preparation of character in an interview with Talking Cinema. Singh stated that he h three weeks for preparation of his character. Ranveer furr ded that he trained for eight hours every day to get numerous aspects of his character right, which included two hours of physical training, four hours of horse riding lessons and two hours of speech and accent training. He also revealed that to understand his character in depth, he locked himself in a hotel room for a week. Ranveer also opted for bald look for his character.

Elaborating his take on investing more than a year for project, in an old interview with PTI, Ranveer asserted, "At a critical st of my career, giving more than one year to a project, t doing anything else, shaving my he... time this project took, in that much time you can do three films. It's a big gamble... It's a risk but somewhere I knew pay would be worth it".

During shoot of Bajirao Mastani, Ranveer suffered an injury while shooting a horse-riding sequence, which apparently led to a ligament tear in his shoulder. Though immediate first aid was ministered and shoot completed, he was later taken to hospital. t only this but after resuming his shoot, it was reported that Ranveer once collapsed on sets of period-drama film.

Reportedly, during shoot of Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial, 35-year-old actor used to take rest between shots by lying on his back with eyes shut. It is said that Ranveer used to observe savasana while listening to music which matched mood of his character on set. Reportedly, this technique helped him to conserve his energy and use it when camera rolled.
During launch of Bajirao Mastani's aarti song Gajanan in Pune, at Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex, Ranveer said that it was t easy for him to do a period character and transport himself mentally to that time. He furr ded that or film demanded this much effort from him. He concluded saying that through this film he got an opportunity to do much for his craft.
