Yami Gautam also stars in Bala. Recently, in an interview, she said that that the late Hrishikesh Mukherjee's films are making a comeback in today's times. As these movies are high on content and humour, which she says is the kind of film Bala is. Hrishikesh Mukherjee was the man behind some of the most classic comedy films of Bollywood, such as Gol MaalChupke Chupke, Khoobsurat among others. Yami says she is a huge fan of his movies.

"Because the content space is so vast, one can see different kinds of films working these days. It's a good thing that no film comes with a guarantee of working perfectly. I do see great promise in the stories of regular people from regular lives. There's a certain amount of magic and charm in them if told with wit," Yami said.
