Banita Sandhu contracts COVID-19, refuses to get admitted in Kolkata government hospital

'October' actor Banita Sandhu tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday. However, the British actor refused to get admitted to a Kolkata government hospital.

British actor Banita Sandhu, who h kickstarted her career in Bollywood with Varun Dhawan's October, tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, i.e. January 4, 2020. However, according to a report by PTI, Banita was mitted to a private hospital after 23-year-old refused to get treated in a government establishment.  Pandora actor h recently flown to Kolkata for shooting her upcoming film Kavita & Teresa.

Why Banita didn't want to get mitted to a Kolkata government hospital?

On Monday, British actor Banita Sandhu me helines after she tested COVID-19 positive. Banita h flown to Kolkata on December 20, 2020, and h reportedly travelled in same flight as a youth who h fallen prey to  mutant Coronavirus strain on his return from UK. An official revealed to PTI that actor tested positive for Coronavirus on Monday afteron and steps were quickly initiated to find out wher she was infected with new strain. 

Meanwhile, as soon as test results of Banita came out, she was taken to Kolkata's Beliaghata Infectious Diseases Hospital, where a separate team was set up to keep those individuals who h recently returned from United Kingdom. However, Banita Sandu reportedly refused to step out of ambulance alleging that government hospital lacked proper infrastructure.

 official told to portal, "We h to inform state secretariat and health department as she was unwilling to come out of ambulance and at one point of time, she wanted to leave. British High Commission was informed as we cant let her go like this which is against protocol. We h to inform police also. y (police personnel) came and surrounded ambulance so that she cant leave".

If grapevines are to be believed, Banita was also counselled by several senior doctors of government hospital but ir efforts went down drain. Talking about same, official said, "Eventually, with permission of health department, she was mitted to a private hospital". However, before mitting her to a private hospital's isolation ward, she was me to sign a declaration about her unwillingness to get mitted to  Beliaghata ID hospital.
