Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu starrer Saand Ki Aankh is now showing in theatres across the country. Its trailer received an immensely positive response from the audience with 19 million views within hours of its release. The movie is a tribute to Chandro and Prakashi on their winning of 352 medals each in the course of their veteran professional life as a shooter. Taapsee is seen as Chandro and Bhumi as Prakashi Tomar. Saand Ki Aankh revolves a feminist and women equality topic. The duo’s journey which started with encouraging their daughters for a bright future ends up with them discovering their skill of being exceptional shooters.
Bhumi Pednekar talks about feminism and women equality
Recently in an interview with an online publication, Bhumi Pednekar said that she believes Saand Ki Aankh highlights the inequality towards women that exists even today in society. Backing up her statement, the actor said that women have faced inequality in our country. However, a bunch of bold and courageous women broke those age-old moulds of discrimination, to bring about an evolution of equality in our country, she added. Bhumi corroborated her choice of words with the movie saying that Chandro and Prakashi started a revolution. Unknowingly they were a part of a system that didn't give them any opportunities cause the society just didn't know better, but they didn't want the same for their daughters and granddaughters. The Shubh Mangal Saavdhan star also added that she is inspired by the Tomar sisters.
Talking about the Tomar sisters, Bhumi said that they are full of love, warmth, hope and all positive articles. They are such fun and full of life, the duo’s story is one to be remembered, a roller coaster ride full of tears and laughs, she gushed. Bhumi Pednekar said the film is a family entertainer that has something for everyone. She also added, the movie is an out and out family film because the whole family needs to see and realise that knowingly or unknowingly it is always the woman of the house who gets subjected to inequality. The film, directed by Tushar Hiranandani and produced by Anurag Kashyap, Reliance Entertainment and Nidhi Parmar.
