Bollywood Box Office: Tumbbad Triumphs On Re-Release, The Buckingham Murders Crashes

Tumbbad Re-Release Box Office Day 4: Actor-producer Sohum Shah's Tumbbad made a stellar return to theatres on September 13, six years after its initial run at the box office in 2018. The movie has not only set the box office record for a Hindi re-release but is also looking to surpass the collections of its original run. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the horror film collected more on its first Monday than its release day Friday.
On the other hand, Kareena Kapoor starrer The Buckingham Murders has failed the Monday test as it came crashing down on the first day of week one.
Tumbbad box office collection day 4
The four-day collection of Tumbbad is a little over ₹9 crore. According to Taran Adarsh, the movie minted ₹1.65 crore on Friday, ₹2.65 crore on Saturday, ₹3.04 crore on Sunday. The collection on Monday did not take a major hit and stood at ₹1.69 crore, taking its total to ₹9.03 crore.
In its initial run, Tumbbad grossed over ₹12 crore. According to the film’s team, the day one collection of Tumbbad surpasses the re-release numbers of classic films such as Sholay, Mughal-e-Azam and Rockstar. The collection is bound to increase in the coming days and will surpass its business during the original theatrical run. Set in a Maharashtra village, Tumbbad explores Vinayak Rao’s (Shah) descent into greed and obsession as he seeks out a mythical treasure guarded by the malevolent entity Hastar.

Kareena Kapoor starrer murder mystery was off to a dull start at the box office after its release on September 13. On Monday, its collections witnessed a steep decline and collected just ₹40 lakh.
The fall was a little under ₹1 core from Sunday figures of ₹1.35 crore. The numbers for the film have remained largely muted, with a total of ₹6 crore net in Hindi dubbed and the original Hinglish version.
