Boney Kapoor hosts puja in memory of Sridevi in Chennai ahead of her first death anniversary; Ajith, Anil Kapoor in attendance

A prayer ceremony in memory of legendary actress Sridevi was held in Chennai on Thursday. Apart from the late actress’ husband, film producer Boney Kapoor and brother-in-law and former co-star, Anil Kapoor, Kollywood superstar Ajith was among the attendees.

The puja, ahead of Sridevi’s first death anniversary, was reportedly held at the ‘Chandni’ star’s maternal house in the city. Anil and Boney were snapped exiting the venue. Ajith was accompanied by wife, former actress Shalini, while making their way their way out. 

Sridevi, who was known for her work spanning multiple industries for over four decades, had passed away at the age of 54 due to accidental drowning in her hotel bathroom in Dubai on February 24 last year. Her death had sent shockwaves across the country and other parts of the world where she had tremendous popularity.

Ajith was previously seen in a cameo opposite Sridevi in ‘English Vinglish.’ Now, the actor will be collaborating with Boney with the producer is backing the the Tamil remake of ‘Pink’, also starring Vidya Balan.

When the news of the collaboration was announced, Boney had said that Sridevi was keen to do a film in Tamil with Ajith and suggested the remake of the critically acclaimed ‘Pink.’ After discussions, the actor had given his nod to the couple to star in the movie. 

Sridevi's daughter Janhvi Kapoor made her debut in Bollywood last year with 'Dhadak.' Her younger daughter Khushi will also reportedly enter the film industry soon.
