Box Office: 'Mission Mangal' crosses Rs. 50 crore mark on Day 3, 'Batla House' shows substantial growth

The patriotic zeal touched heights this Independence day as Bollywood's 'Desi Boys' came up with two spectacular films that are currently ruling the Box Office. Akshay Kumar starrer 'Mission Mangal' and John Abraham's 'Batla House' are the two films based on two defining real-events the country has witnessed. While 'Mission Mangal' is based on Indian Space Research Organisations' Mars Orbital Mission, 'Batla House' is inspired by the controversial encounter operation which took place in Delhi in 2008.
On the third day of its release, 'Mission Mangal' has attained a remarkable feat by crossing the Rs. 50 crore mark at the box office. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh in a recent post revealed, the film witnessed superb growth on Day 3 and has grossed over 70 crores. He further predicted that the film will continue to flair well over Sunday as well.

Meanwhile, John Abraham's 'Batla House' has shown a substantial growth at the Box office, Taran Adarsh confirmed. Despite a strong opponent, the film has grossed Rs. 35.29 crores on Day 3 and the numbers are expected to go higher over the weekend, Adarsh stated.

MISSION MANGAL
Starring Akshay Kumar, the Jagan Shakti-directed movie, touted as India's first space film follows scientists at Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission. Besides Akshay, the film also features Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Nithya Menon.

BATLA HOUSE
‘Batla House’ is based on the real-life incident in 2008 of a police raid at a flat at Batla House in Delhi, which got termed as an ‘encounter’ or even a ‘fake encounter’ after two alleged terrorists were killed, one arrested and two escaped.
John plays the role of ACP Sanjay Kumar, based on real-life supercop ACP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav while the movie also stars Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, among others.
