Cannes 2022: Shyam Benegal's 'Mujib: The Making of a Nation' trailer unveiled at festival

The much-awaited trailer of the film 'Mujib: The Making Of A Nation,' by filmmaker Shyam Benegal was unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival 2022.

Cannes Film Festival 2022 is surely a special one for India as it is first time that country has been designated as Country of Honour. While Deepika Pukone is one of jury members at festival this year, a delegation of 11 members from Indian film industry also graced event's red carpet, led by India's Information and Brocasting Minister Anurag Thakur. While film festival becomes a talking point for India, re is also good news for Bangleshi audiences ahe of release of much-awaited Shyam Benegal film Mujib: Making Of A Nation. 

As per a report by ANI, film's trailer was unveiled at India Pavillion at Cannes 2022. 90-second trailer was launched in presence of Union Minister Anurag Thakur and Banglesh's Information and Brocasting Minister Hasan Mahmud. trailer provided a sneak peek into story of founder of Banglesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and left attendees impressed.

Shyam Benegal's message for viewers at Cannes 2022

Shyam Benegal could not make it to Cannes, yet he sent this message to viewers at trailer launch event. filmmaker expressed his gratitude to actors and technicians of both India and Banglesh, who have been a part of project.

In his message, he said, "This is an Indo-Banglesh co-production... first of its kind actually. This is a very important film because I personally think that I got opportunity to work with some of best actors of subcontinent."

He furr shared his thoughts about Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and mentioned how he h a great time working on project. Benegal said, "Sheikh Mujibur was an extraordinary person.. he was a person who h a very middle-class background and lived a simple life but he h a burning ambition that helped him create Banglesh. It was absolutely marvellous working on film." He also assured that upcoming film will be rey before end of this year.

Anurag Thakur was left impressed by film's trailer and expressed his views. leer called film a "gift on birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Ji." He furr cited movie as an example of good neighbourly ties. He also mentioned how film complements work of two countries. Towards conclusion, he extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Banglesh Sheikh Hasina for initiative.

Indian Embassy of France also complimented  film's trailer and called it a milestone in two countries' friendship. Taking to Twitter, embassy wrote, "Anor milestone in friendship -trailer of film "Mujib– Making of a Nation" launched @Festival_Cannes, a co-production, in august presence of Ministers @ianuragthakur & Dr. Hasan Mahmud."
