Chhapaak: Makers fail to give credits despite court orders, lawyer moves Delhi HC

Lawyer moves Delhi HC against Chhapaak makers
plea has sought initiation of contempt proceedings against makers for n-compliance of High Court order directing respondents to give credit to lawyer for her contribution towards making film. Bhat represented Laxmi Aggarwal, acid attack survivor on whose life movie Chhapaak is based. Speaking to a news ncy over phone, Bhat said, “I have filed this petition as makers have t included credits in copy of film which is being screened internationally.” However, she stated that due credits were given to her in film which was aired in India.

Earlier this month, Patiala House Court had directed makers of Deepika Padukone’s Chhapaak to give credit to lawyer of Laxmi Agarwal, acid attack survivor on whom film is based. Aparna Bhat had moved court seeking a stay on film after she was t credited in movie. changes were to be made before movie’s release on Friday, court directed.

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, produced by Deepika Padukone, film is based on life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agrawal. film has had a slow run at box office minting a total of Rs 32 crores at ticketing counters. film's promotions became controversial on account of Deepika Padukone's sudden drop-in at a JNUSU protest, a day after JNU campus witnessed shocking violence, following which a PR campaign leveraging Padukone's pictures from visit was spotted by netizens.
