Actor Sonakshi Sinha on Tuesday voiced her concern over proposed felling of over 2,600 trees in Aarey suburban area to make way for a Metro car shed and said people should unite to save planet. Tree Authority of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recently gave its d to cut over 2,600 trees for a Metro car shed in Aarey Colony adjoining suburban Goregaon, which is kwn as major green lung of city.

When asked about same, Sonakshi told reporters, "I am completely against cutting of trees, I am all for planting trees, preserving forests and nature. I think we all should join hands, take it up as a challenge and save our planet." actor joined a list of celebrities who have objected to felling of trees, including legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, actors Shraddha Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Raveena Tandon, Randeep Hooda, Esha Gupta and comedian Kapil Sharma among ors.

Sonakshi said talk around nature conservation is important. "Just a few days back when re was a fire in Amazon, we raised our voice but w here we are talking about chopping trees here. Kaveri river has dried up totally and it is because of a lack of trees.

"We cant take se issues lightly. Global warming is a burning issue, and youth, I think, has power to work on measures to better environment," she added.

Earlier, Shraddha Kapoor spoke to Republic Media Network on sidelines of protest and extended a mess to fellow citizens. "All of us are here to support mor nature. re is already so much pollution, how can BMC give permission to chop down more trees? 2700 plus trees are sent to be cut and permission for it is granted. This is ridiculous, this can't happen" Shraddha Kapoor said.

Furr urging fellow citizens to join movement to save Mumbai's lungs- Aarey Forest, she added, "I am a citizen of Mumbai and so I am a part of this movement. We are trying to make a difference and I would like to urge every Mumbaikar to come forward and save Aarey."
