CONFIRMED: Kangana Ranaut to play former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa in her biopic
Birthday girl Kangana Ranaut has one more film in her kitty! The actress is all set to play Jayalalithaa in her biopic.

As Kangana Ranaut turns a year older on March 23, the actress has been officially signed to play Jayalalithaa in biopic of the legendary actress and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.

According to film critic Jalapathy Gudelli, the movie will be titled as 'Thalaivi' and will be directed by 'Devi' filmmaker A L Vijay. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala too confirmed on his Twitter handle and shared the poster of the film. He wrote: "#KanganaRanaut will play the lead role as Former CM #Jayalalithaa in her biopic #Thalaivi. @gvprakash Music. DOP #NiravShah. #DirectorVijay to direct and to be produced by @vishinduri for @vibri_media" [sic]

Jayalalithaa was one of India's most powerful politicians and government official who served as the leader of the All India Dravidian Progressive Federation (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam; AIADMK), in Tamil Nadu state. She was also a successful actress and featured in some 130 films between 1964 and 1980. Jayalalitha Jayaram commonly referred to "Amma" served three terms (1991–96, 2002–06, and 2011–14) as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. She passed away on December 5, 2016 due to cardiac arrest.
On the work front, Kangana was last seen in 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' as warrior queen Rani Lakshmi Bai. The actor will next be seen in ‘Mental Hai Kya’, which also stars Rajkummar Rao.

Apart from this, Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle to make the announcement. He wrote, “Release date finalised... Kangana Ranaut, Jassie Gill, Richa Chadha and Neena Gupta... #Panga to release on 24 Jan 2020... Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari... Produced by Fox Star Studios.” Kangana will be seen playing the role of a Kabbadi player in the upcoming film. The film has been helmed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and also stars Neena Gupta and Richa Chadha in pivotal roles.
