coronavirus has created a scare across world, with thousands of people being affected and over 3000 deaths being reported. Countries around world are taking all possible measures to protect people, while citizens mselves have started taking precautions like wearing masks and maintaining hygiene around mselves. However, amid outbreak of virus and disease COVID-19, a stowaway cat has drawn attention from celebrities.

Celebrities are pleading with Chennai Port to t deport a stowaway cat to China over alleged fear related to coronavirus.

Pooja Bhatt, Sunny Leone, Priyamani and Ashmit Patel were among those who took to Twitter to request Chennai Port to t deport it to China,  but release it to  People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

PETA in a report stated that cat had arrived in India from China in a container three weeks ago. However, it has been kept at Chennai Port, and was being considered to be sent back to its country of origin by Chennai quarantine. report claimed that cat might t have necessarily entered container from China only, since ships are docked at Singapore, Colombo and or places, where cat could have entered from.

PETA India’s manr of veterinary services, Dr Rashmi Gokhale has written to Chennai Port, claiming that it has been ‘scientifically established’ that cats were t at risk to transmit or contract vel coronavirus. body cited a report from American Veterinary Medical Association on domestic animals t being at a risk to contract or transmit coronavirus. animal rights body offered to find cat a ‘loving permanent home in India’ after required medical tests and vaccinations were completed.

PETA claimed that chances of cat surviving in China was scarce since cats are killed for fur and meat in country.
