Rakul Preet Singh has been busy shooting for her next movie De De Pyaar De 2, co-starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu, in Punjab . The actress kept her fans on their toes by sharing the photos from the sets. However, the shoot has reportedly been paused.

Why De De Pyaar De 2 shoot has been paused?

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, director Anshul Sharma has been diagnosed with dengue, owing to which the Patiala shoot has been paused. According to the reports, the cast and crew had completed around 7-8 days of the shoot and were scheduled to continue until mid-October. However, with the director's illness, the team has returned to Mumbai.  "Once Anshul recovers, the team will plan a Mumbai shoot and resume the Patiala schedule at the earliest based on the actors' availability," a source shared with the publication.

R Madhavan to join the cast of De De Pyaar De 2

Earlier it was reported that R Madhavan has been roped in as a new lead and will be locking horns with Ajay Devgn . According to Pinkvilla, Madhavan is also seeing the comedy flick as a change in his intense filmography. It seems Madhavan will play the role of Rakul's father.  “Madhavan has not delved into a light-hearted rom-com since the Tanu Weds Manu franchise and he readily embraced the opportunity to come on board DDPD 2. The makers are bringing in a fresh energy to the film, and both the leading men are excited for this face-off in the sequel to 2019 romantic comedy,” the source said.

The sequel will take off from the point where De De Pyaar De concluded. It will chronicle events in the family of Rakul after she informs her parents about dating and being willing to marry a 50-year-old Ashish (played by Ajay).

The movie has been scheduled to hit the theatres on May 1, 2025.
