Deepika Padukone launches her first lecture series on mental health

Deepika Pukone says conversation around mental health awareness may have opened up a lot in recent years but re is still a long way to go. actor, who is founder of Live Love Laugh Foundation, was in capital for initiative's inaugural 'Lecture Series' to discuss stigma surrounding mental health.

Deepika Pukone on Mental Health:
"As far as conversation around causes of mental health is concerned, I think we've come a long way. But we certainly have a long way to go in terms of creating more awareness... "I think conversation has opened up. I don't think that re's as much stigma as it used to be four years ago," Deepika told reporters here on Sunday.
"Pmaavat" star was diagsed with clinical depression in 2014 and went public about it next year. In 2015, she launched foundation to create awareness around mental health.

Deepika, 33, said idea behind 'Lecture Series' was to bring people from different walks of life toger and create more awareness about cause. "(It's about) inviting from different professions from various parts of world, but most importantly, people who are passionate about mental health and have m talk to us about ir ir journey, ir experience," she said.

"It's about taking to next level," she ded. actor also praised media for its role in opening up conversation on mental health.

Deepika Pukone will next be seen in Chhapaak'. 33-year-old actor will essay role of Laxmi, who at of 15, was attacked allegedly by a spurned lover in 2005. Laxmi h to undergo several surgeries. Later, she took up job of helping acid attack survivors and promoted campaigns to stop such attacks. Her attacker, a 32-year old man, was an acquaintance of her family. Laxmi is a well-kwn vocate of stricter punishments in acid attack cases.
