Deepika Pukone came out and publicly talked about her mental illness in 2014. Since she came out about her experience with depression, she has become an ambassor to fight taboo of mental illness in India. She founded a foundation kwn as Live Love Laugh Foundation or TLLLF. Her foundation recently won an award for ir work in spreing awareness and fighting taboo against mental illness. award won by foundation was Dr Guislain 'Breaking Chains of Stigma' Award for 2019 in Ghent, Belgium. After this, Deepika came out and spoke more about what she h to go through when she was facing illness. In an interview with an online portal, she opened up and spoke about how she has opened her black book.

Deepika Pukone expressed that she and her mor live in different cities but often meet each or. On one such instance, Deepika stated that she started crying while her mom was about to leave. It was very unusual for her mor to see her daughter cry. Deepika’s mor asked her why she was crying. Was it about her work? Was it about a relationship? Deepika answered that ne of those things were boring her. She revealed that she was feeling empty from inside.

Listening to this, Deepika’s mom asked her to seek help. Without hesitation, Deepika was rey to do what her mor said. That is when Deepika reached out to an old family friend and rapist, Anna Chandy. Deepika was n diagsed with clinical depression and anxiety.

Deepika ded that she was t aware of illness and did t realize that mental health is very important. She also said that re are visible symptoms for mental health problems, unlike fever, for instance. She also questioned that public is t thought to recognize symptoms of mental illness in same way y learn about fever. Deepika also said only because her mor was aware of se things she was able to help her better than anyone else could have.
Deepika also said that fighting this was very tough, but faster you kw what want from your life faster you will recover. She ded that self-awareness is reason why she was able to recover. She did a lot of things that she liked and started enjoying small things that mattered to her. She also said that enjoyment used to always come with guilt, and w she has stopped doing so, which helped her grow.
