Chhapaak: Deepika Padukone burnt off a piece of prosthetic after shoot

Chhapaak will be Deepika Padukone's first production venture. The film features Deepika and Vikrant Massey in the lead roles. To release on January 10, 2020.

Deepika Padukone will be seen on-screen after a break of one year. The actor featured in 2018's Padmaavat alongside Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. She will be next seen in Chhapaak where she will portray the role of an acid attack survivor. Deepika is also co-producing the film making it her first production venture. The film is directed by Meghna Gulzar who previously directed films like Talwar and Raazi. The film is based on the life of an acid attack survivor named Laxmi Agarwal.

Deepika Burns a piece of prosthetics

Recently while talking to a news daily, Deepika revealed her experience while working on Chhapaak. The actor stated that the character she plays is the most challenging role she has ever portrayed. The film left an impact on the actor which she has never experienced before with any other character. Playing the role of an acid attack survivor reportedly left the actor distressed while shooting emotionally driven sequences. She further added that she burned a piece of prosthetics on the last day of filming.

Deepika spoke extensively about how the character impacted her. She stated that the decision of burning a piece of prosthetics was a decision she took as a producer. According to her, burning the piece of prosthetics helped her let go of the experiences she went through while shooting for the film. The actor also stated that the production is charged per piece of prosthetics make-up as they are difficult to make. Deepika reportedly ordered the make-up department to built an extra piece to burn off at the end of the shoot. Deepika stated that burning off the prosthetics helped her heal emotionally from the character.
