What Deepika had to say

Deepika is well known in the film industry for doing roles that leave an impact on the audience. Be it Veronica from Cocktail or her last movie where she played queen Padmavati from the movie Padmavat. She has taken on to perform a character of Malti in Chhapaak. Her character required a lot of emotional connection and deep digging into the emotional turmoil of the acid attack survivor.

Deepika in an interview to a media portal said,  she had never been as emotionally burnt out as she was during the filming of Chhapaak. This movie is the first of its kind. Movies are a great medium to send messages to the public. It was an emotional rollercoaster ride for Deepika while shooting the film. It used to take three hours for her to get prosthetics done and another hour to take them off. Since the storyline is such, the actor needs to get in the skin of the character. Meghna Gulzar revealed that Deepika was the best choice for the role because she understands the character. By the end of the film shooting, Deepika was emotionally drained out.
