Deepika Padukone and Salman Khan are two of Bollywood's biggest superstars. The two actors are also amongst the highest paid in the industry and command a huge fan following. They are also always in the news, be it Deepika's personal life or Salman's various run-ins with the media. Filmgoers have enjoyed their various movie outings, but they are also keen to watch Deepika and Salman pair up together for a film.

Deepika rejected films opposite Salman

It is quite surprising, but Deepika and Salman haven't worked together in a film, much to the dismay of their fans. However, Salman Khan has mentioned that there was no possibility of it happening because no one has come forward to cast the two of them together in a film. In an interview with a media outlet, Salman mentioned that Deepika Padukone is a big star, so it has to be worth her time to do a film with a lead of his stature. He also stressed that as of now, nothing is on the table for the two of them together.

In the past, it was rumoured that Deepika Padukone was offered quite a few films opposite Salman. One of them was the 2014 Sohail Khan directorial Jai Ho. She refused the film, and Daisy Shah ultimately made her debut opposite Salman. Deepika was also offered Sultan, but due to her scheduling conflicts, she had to pass on the film to Anushka Sharma.

Interestingly, Salman had offered to launch Deepika in a film, which she disclosed in an interview. She had to reject his kind gesture as she was not ready to face the camera back then. Nevertheless, she did say that she was grateful to him for his offer and is hopeful that she will pair up with him for something special soon. 

What's next?

On the professional front, Deepika and Salman are extremely busy. The Padmaavat star is busy gearing up for the release of her debut film as a producer, Chhapaak, directed by Meghna Gulzar. She will be seen playing the role of an acid attack survivor in the movie, which is based on the life of Laxmi Agarwal. She will also be seen in the Kapil Dev biopic 83, in her first film with actor-husband Ranveer Singh after their marriage in 2018.  Salman Khan will return in his iconic avatar of Chulbul Pandey in Dabangg 3, which is slated for release on December 20, 2019.
