The actor was seen in a brief role in Ek Chalis Ki Last Local. Starring Abhay Deol and Neha Dhupia in the leading roles, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was seen portraying the character of Ponappa’s brother in the film. Siddiqui essayed the role of a drug addict, who later gets killed. Nawazuddin’s role was limited to a few minutes of the film.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui was seen in the Kabir Khan directorial, New York. In the movie, the actor played a victim of allegations of terrorism by American authorities. Even though the film was a commercial success, Nawazuddin’s performance in the movie was unnoticed. Starring John Abraham, Katrina Kaif and Neil Nitin Mukesh in the leading roles, the film is based on the aftermath of 9/11.
