Even today when people sit to play ‘Antakshari’, more often than not it’s the classics of Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafi that come to the participants’ lips. Celebrities of the music industry have often expressed regret over how the songs of the current generation don’t have the shelf life that evergreen tracks of these legendary singers enjoyed, because of which most of the music of this era will be forgotten after that. However, they are some tracks in later years that have enjoyed a cult following. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara’s Senorita is one of those numbers that is a common tune in almost every party and among the favourite for performers. For the unversed, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol had not merely lip-synced, but had actually lent their voices for the song. Farhan recently revealed that he was so impressed with Abhay’s vocals, that he asked him to never sing again. The actor-producer shared that he was keen that Abhay's voice’s ‘exclusivity’ remains with this track only.
Farhan Akhtar, along with the team of The Sky is Pink had recently featured on The Kapil Sharma Show where Kapil Sharma asked him about rumours that he asked Abhay to sing all the songs of Farhan's forthcoming films after Senorita. The Karthik Calling Karthik star then replied, "No, this is not true. I was highly impressed with his singing, but I didn't offer him songs from my upcoming movies. Instead, I asked him to not sing any song after Senorita so that the exclusivity of the song remained alive."
Though Abhay has stuck to the promise, and Hrithik too has not sung since then, Farhan Akhtar is a regular singer, and even performs at his shows.
Senorita
Senorita was picturised on Hrithik, Farhan and Abhay as they grooved together in Spain. The track has been composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and written by Javed Akhtar. Apart from the trio, María del Mar Fernández' s vocals also work its magic.
'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara', directed by Zoya Akhtar, enjoys a big fan following even today. And often rumours of a sequel to it, or stars talking about who they’d like to star with in case of a sequel keep surfacing.
