From 'extraordinary' to 'ordinary', Netizens can't decide how they feel about 'Kesari'

Akshay Kumar's much-awaited film 'Kesari' released on Holi today and the netizens are confused! While some call it 'brilliant', the others call it just average and flawed.

"Kesari" is based on the Battle of Saragarhi fought between the British Indian army's Sikh Regiment comprising of 21 soldiers and 10,000 Afghan tribesmen in 1897. 

So, should you book the tickets this weekend? Decide after you read some of the Twitter reactions.

In a recent statement, Akshay said, "I am an army man's son and probably, deep down in my heart, I wanted to follow my father's footsteps. I stepped into show business, but my heart lies with the armed forces. Whenever I see men and women in uniform, I am filled with pride and also a sense of responsibility." 

"My producers and I are happy to dedicate Kesari, based on the Battle of Saragarhi, the bravest battle ever fought, to Bharat Ke Veer. It is a film that showcases valour and the highest degree of 'desh bhakti' (patriotism). It is a befitting tribute to our soldiers, who have laid down their lives for the nation," he added.

Comparing the concept of his film to an iconic Hollywood film titled '300', the actor said, "We all know about the film 300 where 300 men fought against 80,000 people. That is a fictitious story. But this is a real story. I want parents to show this film to their children."

Based on the legend of the Battle of Saragarhi of 1897, is co-written by Girish Kohli and Anurag Singh, the film has been produced by Johar’s Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films and Azure Entertainment.
