Gadar 2 trailer delayed because of CBFC, director Anil Sharma says 'some dialogues...'

Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2 trailer was launched in Mumbai on July 27. The sequel to the 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha will release on August 11. In anticipation of the movie's trailer, fans on social media had raised queries about why it was delayed till late in the evening. At the event on Wednesday, director Anil Sharma revealed the reason behind it.

Anil Sharma reveals the reason behind trailer delay

Director Anil Sharma revealed that CBFC did not grant the film's trailer a certification until the last moment, which led to a delay. He also said that the makers and the board went back and forth on the cuts that the latter had recommended.

"We were also given to understand that it was the 16th version of the trailer and of course there were some dialogues that were asked to be muted and then eventually cleared without any issue. As it is obvious from the trailer there are quite a few times the principal characters of the film use the name Pakistan," Anil added.

Sunny Deol returns as Tara Singh

In Gadar 2, Sunny Deol reprises his role as Tara Singh from his 2001 blockbuster hit Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.

Filmmaker Anil Sharma, who also helmed the original, has directed the follow-up. At the event, the actor said that he is grateful to the audience for showering love on Gadar, when it was released 22 years ago.
