Ghoomer trailer: Down and out Abhishek Bachchan mentors Saiyami Kher | Watch

Ghoomer, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher, will release on August 18. The film will also premiere at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.

Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher will play teacher and pupil in upcoming sports drama Ghoomer. The makers dropped the trailer of the film today (August 4). Ghoomer is inspired by real-life incidents and follows the journey of a paraplegic sports woman.

  • Abhishek Bachchan plays the role of a cricket coach in the movie. 
  • The film is helmed by R Balki and will premiere at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne on August 12. 

Ghoomer trailer narrates an emotional tale

Ghoomer trailer opens with Abhishek Bachchan rationalising that someone can play for the country with one hand. This of followed by a shot of a group of ladies making their way into the cricket field while the Indian flags lead their trail. Abhishek's voiceover tells us that life is not about logic, but magic. Visuals then show Anina (Saiyami Kher) impressing everyone with her flawless batting skills. 

 

However, things go downhill quickly. Anina meets with an accident and has her arm amputated. What follows is her painful desire to end her life, while Abhishek motivates her to rise through the hurdle and play for the country again.

The trailer has a good blend of emotion, comedy and a strong message about not giving up. Shabana Azmi  plays Anina’s mother and brings emotional weight to the film. The movie will also follow Abhishek's character's journey from a drunkard to an inspiration for Anina.

Ghoomer to premiere at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 

Ghoomer is a triumphant story of a paraplegic sportsperson, who excels and makes her dream come true with the help of her coach. Before hitting the big screens on August 18, the movie will premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM). The filmmakers called it, “a tribute to sport and the reservoir of human resilience”.

Apart from Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami, the movie also stars Angad Bedi. The movie is helmed by R Balki and the trailer shows a special appearance of the veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan.
