'Godhra Incident Was Our 9/11', Says Vikrant Massey At The Sabarmati Report Trailer Launch

Sabarmati Report: makers of upcoming film, which is inspired by true events, unveiled its trailer on vember 6. Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, film stars Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra in le roles. Sabarmati Report chronicles tragic events of morning of February 27, 2002, when a sudden fire erupted on Sabarmati Express, claiming lives of 59 pilgrims and karsevaks returning from Ayodhya. incident sent shockwaves across nation. film narrating incident will release on vember 15 in cinema halls.

At trailer launch event, Vikrant shared that he has been receiving death threats on social media but he is t worried as film is based on "facts". 

'As artists we have to tell stories'

“I have been receiving threats. Without drawing attention to it, it is something which I am dealing with and we, as a team, collectively are dealing with,” Vikarnt Massey told reporters here at trailer launch of film.

“But we are artists and we tell stories. This film is purely based on facts. Unfortunately, you have t seen film so you should t make a preconceived tion that it is talking about only one facet," he said when asked about Gujarat riots that followed incident.

Ekta Kapoor reacts to claims Sabarmati Report can flame communal tensions

Producer Ekta Kapoor described film as a “social commentary” when asked if film could instigate communal tension. She said she is a Hindu but "Hindu means you are secular". She also denied any political influence in making movie.

Vikrant also drew parallels between Sabarmati Report and 9/11 terrorist attack on US soil. "We re newspaper and move on and this has become a rm. But this was our 9/11 which changed our socio-political fabric overnight," 12th Fail actor said, comparing terror attacks in New York and Godhra incident.
