After enthralling audiences and critics alike and winning hearts at box office, ‘Gully Boy’ has been anunced as India’s official entry to Acemy Awards next year. film, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt and directed by Zoya Akhtar, is story of a youngster from Mumbai slums who attains popularity as a rapper.

Reacting to news, ace-filmmaker 'Gully Boy' in an interview with a leing media publication stated that whole thing has been a little 'crazy', but overall year has been wonderful and that she is qyuite 'overwhelmed' with response. I am thrilled and very grateful that Gully Boy has been picked as India’s official entry for Oscars.", she ded.

Gully Boy’ h released on February 14, Valentine’s Day earlier this year and is based on story of many real-life rappers like Divine and Naezy, who me it big after showcasing ir rapping skills in slums of Mumbai. film was unanimously lauded by critics and was accepted by audiences as well. ‘Gully Boy’ even entered Rs 100-crore club at box office.

‘Gully Boy’ was produced by Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment. It was second collaboration between Zoya Akhtar and Ranveer Singh after ‘Dil Dhakne Do’ also featuring Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar and Shefali Shah.
