The latest instalment in the Housefull franchise, Housefull 4, recently released on the big screen. The multi-starrer comedy, which stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Bobby Deol, Kriti Sanon, Pooja Hedge and Kriti Kharbanda, deals with the theme of reincarnation. The reincarnation genre has been a popular subject in Hindi films for decades. Over the years, many Bollywood movies have dealt with the theme of reincarnation.

1. Karz (1980)
Karz is one of Bollywood's most iconic musicals. The revenge thriller was directed by Subhash Ghai and starred Rishi Kapoor, Tina Munim and Simi Garewal in the role of the primary antagonist and dealt with the theme of reincarnation. Rishi Kapoor played the role of a singer, who is the reincarnation of the person killed by Simi's character. Karz was hugely popular for its' evergreen soundtrack, composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. The duo also won the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for their work on the film, with hits such as Ek Hasina Thi, Om Shanti Om, Dard-E-Dil and Paisa Hi Paisa.
2. Karan Arjun (1995)
Karan Arjun marked the first on-screen collaboration of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan on the big screen. Director Rakesh Roshan narrated the revenge saga of a mother, played by veteran actor Rakhee, who loses her two sons at the hands of their tyrannical uncle, played by Amrish Puri, and how her sons are reborn to bring the uncle to justice. Karan Arjun is popular to this day for its classic dialogues, which are referenced in various films and shows, the star power of Salman and Shah Rukh and for the entertainment quotient. It is considered as a definitive Bollywood reincarnation film.
3. Om Shanti Om (2007)
This film needs no introduction whatsoever. Released in 2007, Om Shanti Om was co-written and directed by Farah Khan and featured Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in her debut Bollywood film. The film was a celebration of commercial Bollywood movies and was fashioned as a reincarnation potboiler. It had a little bit of everything, from comedy, drama, romance and action. With cameo appearances from virtually every Bollywood actor, numerous film references that delighted the most die-hard of Bollywood fans, Vishal-Shekar's chartbuster soundtrack and consistent entertainment on offer, Om Shanti Om is still considered as one of the best masala Bollywood movies.
