Actor Adil Hussain, who recently joined cast of CBS All Access series "Star Trek: Discovery" for its upcoming third season, says he had a memorable time working on show. actor said it all started when he was shooting for his upcoming film "India Sweets and Spice" and during that time, he received a call from his nt who told him makers are looking for a person for role of a "human and South Asian".

"She said, You fit bill and do you mind auditioning for it?' So I recorded my audition and sent it. Two weeks later, I got to kw that y all loved it. Next thing I kw I'm shooting for show in Toronto," Adil told PTI in an interview. actor, who is currently attending Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) here, said show's cast and crew was a group of thorough professionals. "Some of m were Oscar-minated. Most of my scenes were with actor Sonequa Martin-Green. initial eight days were used only for costume trials." Adil said first day of shoot was most memorable.

"On day of shoot, everyone, including actors, gared around and made a circle. y formally introduced me, 'Adil Hussain from India. We welcome you to family of Star Trek.' y all clapped and n looked at me. I said, 'Do I have to speak?' y said yes. I didn't kw what to say because I didn't prepare. But I said, ' only thing coming to my mind right w is that I was born in a small town in Assam where newspapers used to come three days late. And w I'm here today, crossing galaxies. So thank you for letting me into your family', actor reminisced.

Adil said show's lead star, Martin-Green, gave him a hug after his little speech and whispered something in his ear. "She hugged me and whispered into my ear, 'I'm so looking forward and happy to be working with you'." actor said in that moment, it felt like all boundaries have been immediately broken. "We had a great time re. It was like clockwork and yet flexible and relaxed. hierarchy and -nsense about being a star. y don't care about anything. y just knew that I acted in 'Life of Pi'.

"It's a pure human connection. You are an actor and you have been chosen by director means you're good. So efficiency has immense value, matter who you are, where you come from, it doesn't matter. And, y strive for excellence." actor said he will probably be going back to shoot for four episodes of show in January. At DIFF, Adil will hold an acting workshop for budding artistes on Sunday. film gala will conclude with screening of Gitanjali Rao's "Bombay Rose".
