Sharing a stunning black and white picture, Nafisa wrote a hard-hitting caption. She said: "I am Nafisa Ali Sodhi and I would like an elegant role to portray in Indian cinema . So looking for a perfect script as an senior actor , I need to work to express my emotions .I will not be dictated to. May God give each of us the strength to follow our dreams."

She further wrote: "Stop targeting young women in India. Stop religious intolerance. Stop dictating to Indians . India is unique and we must protect our secular fabric .Stop this divide and rule . Focus on a better world."

Veteran film and theatre actor Nafisa Ali revealed she is suffering from peritoneal and ovarian cancer in 2018.
She made the revelation via Instagram on which she shared a picture of her with good friend and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, who paid her a visit post the diagnosis.

A day after she came forward with her stage 3 cancer diagnosis, the actor disclosed the type of the illness — peritoneal and ovarian cancer.
Born in West Bengal, Nafisa made her acting debut in 1979 with Shashi Kapoor's "Junoon". Her other acting credits include "Major Saab", "Life In a Metro", "Yamla Pagla Deewana" and "Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3"

Ali is currently a member of the Congress party. She contested in 2009 elections on a Samajwadi Party ticket.
She is married to Arjuna Award winning sports personality Colonel R S Sodhi and also shares two children - Ajit and Armana.
