IAF writes to Censor Board, objects to 'negative portrayal' in 'Gunjan Saxena' movie
IAF has written a letter to Censor Board expressing disagreement over the 'negative portrayal of the Armed Forces' in Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl.

Indian Air Force (IAF) has written a letter to Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Dharma Productions, and streaming giant Netflix, expressing ir disappointment over 'negative portrayal of Armed Forces' in Gunjan Saxena: Kargil Girl. With letter, IAF has annexed portions and scenes from upcoming film that need to be modified or deleted. IAF has also me it clear that it will grant an C only after annexed scenes are eir deleted or modified.

IAF writes letter to Central Board of Film Certification
IAF wrote a letter to CBFC requesting to delete or modify scenes that portray Armed Forces in a negative light. In letter, IAF has revealed that y h an elongated discussion with producers, Dharma Productions, who 'promised that y would portray Armed Forces with aunticity and ensure that younger generation is motivated to join Indian Air Force.' However, gauging by trailer of film, IAF believes 'certain scenes have portrayed Armed Forces in a negative light.'
IAF also revealed that y contacted Karan Johar of Dharma Production immediately after trailer of Gunjan Saxena: Kargil Girl trailer was sent to m. IAF requested m to delete or modify a few scenes, which producers of forthcoming film did t here to. Inste, y inserted a disclaimer at beginning of film.

In letter accessed by ANI, IAF wrote, “In aim to glorify screen character of ‘Ex-Fit Lt Gunjan Saxena’, M/s Dharma Productions presented some situations that are misleing and portray an inappropriate work culture especially against women in IAF.”

y also believed that Gunjan Saxena: Kargil Girl presents inappropriate work culture and biases at Indian Air Force. In letter to CBFC, IAF conveyed that y have a -neutral workforce and do t propagate biases in ir service. y even pointed out that IAF was one of first Armed Forces in India to include women officers.

Gunjan Saxena: Kargil Girl based on ex-flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena will release on streaming platform Netflix on August 12. movie stars Janhvi Kapoor in le and also features actors like Pankaj Tripathi, Ang Bedi, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Manav Vij in prominent roles. Gunjan Saxena: Kargil Girl is written and directed by Sharan Sharma and Nikhil Mehrotra of Panga fame.

Gunjan Saxena, who is a 1999 Kargil War veteran, is also first woman to win Saurya Chakra. forthcoming movie based on Gunjan Saxena's life is jointly produced by Dharma Production and Zee Studios.
