20 Indian soldiers including a Colonel were killed in a violent physical clash with People’s Liberation Army of China in Galwan Valley region of eastern Ladakh on Monday. India-China clash at LAC
On Tuesday, India said violent face-off between armies of India and China in eastern Ladakh was result of an attempt by Chinese side to unilaterally change status quotient in region. China, meanwhile, blamed India for flare-up, saying Indian troops crossed border twice illegally and launched "provocative attacks". recent India-China Face off is considered biggest military confrontation in over five decades that has significantly escalated already volatile border standoff in disputed region. Recently, a US State Department spokesperson said that United States of America is 'closely monitoring' situation following a violent clash between Indian and Chinese forces in eastern Ladakh and hopes that differences will be resolved peacefully.
Here is Indian Army's statement:
"Indian and Chinese troops have disengd at Galwan area where y had earlier clashed on night of 15/16 June 2020. 17 Indian troops who were critically injured in line of duty at standoff location and exposed to sub-zero temperatures in high altitude terrain have succumbed to ir injuries, taking total that were killed in action to 20. Indian Army is firmly committed to protect territorial integrity and sovereignty of nation."
