'Inhuman', 'Traumatising': 'Pihu' Film's Marketing Ploy Gets Flak On Twitter, Producer Justifies It

Several Twitter users tweeted to inform about the marketing strategy of Vinod Kapri's 'Pihu' and also slammed it.

trailer of Vid Kapri's ‘Pihu’, which showcases story of a two-year-old girl trying life-threatening actions at home alone after her mor’s death, has t just shocked and disturbed viewers, but it had got many celebrities talking about it. Amitabh Bachchan, Bhumi Pednekar, among ors had expressed ir wonder and discomfort after watching trailer.

As journey of film started off on a positive te, w makers are w getting flak for ir promotional strategy. People from across country have reportedly got calls from a child who 'hysterically’ cries for her parents and asks for help. This is followed by m receiving a mess with a link of film's trailer.

Several recipients of frightening call took to Twitter to express ir objection to  promotional strategy. One of m claimed that he was trying to call back on number to try to help, while ar cut call mid-way itself as she thought it's a prank call. However, most of m were t too pleased with marketing ploy and called it 'horrible','anying', 'inhuman', 'traumatising' and a 'disgusting invasion of privacy'. y lashed out at promotional strategy, calling it 'absurd' and 'desperate'.

One of producers of film, Ronnie Screwvala, however, came out in support of strategy amid flak and was quoted as saying 'to each his own' by a portal, adding that it was decision of marketing team to try something 'different.' He added that y were t going to stop pushing envelope just because some people had an issue with it.
