Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha-starrer film Lootera released in year 2013. film was a historical romantic film directed by Vikramitya Motwane. Lootera was based on author O. Henry's 1907 short story Last Leaf. film is produced under banner of Balaji Motion Pictures and Phantom Films.
However, even after having a great story film failed to meet audience's expectations and didn't do well at Box Office. Lootera earned a worldwide gross business of ₹46,40,65,000/-. movie may have tanked but Ranveer Singh's character in film was highly appreciated by audience and his fans. In film, Ranveer Singh was essaying character of Varun Shrivastav.

In an interview with a media publication in 2019, he mitted to this himself. Ranveer Singh revealed that he was a raw actor at time of Lootera. He also ded that he stapled inside of his stomach and he also hit himself to get right expressions of pain. However, Ranveer Singh also mentioned that he would t want to do something like that again.

During a media interaction, Ranveer Singh revealed that his look in film was inspired by late legendary actor Dev Anand. Ranveer Singh furr ded that director of film was very clear that film h to be an amalgamation of Hollywood actor James Dean and Dev Anand.

Ranveer and Sonakshi only slept for three hours every day while shooting for Lootera
Ranveer Singh and his co-star Sonakshi Sinha were only able to get three hours of sleep while shooting for film. As per media reports, team of Lootera were shooting in rural Bengal which is about four hours away from city. Reportedly, cast and crew travelled for four long hours to get to shooting location each day.
