The Independence Day weekend is one of the most coveted ones for Bollywood films. Like many stars who have exercised a monopoly over certain holidays during the year, Akshay Kumar had made the patriotic holiday his own. Now, it seems like he has some mighty challengers to reckon with next year.

The makers of 'Saaho' have announced officially that the Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor starrer will release on Independence Day in 2019. Akshay Kumar's 'Mission Mangal' is also slated for release then and so is John Abraham's 'Batla House'. With all three movies having some weight behind itself, it is really going to be a contest if the clash is not averted.
It must be noted that 'Saaho' will be Prabhas' first film after the massive 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion', so the curiosity about the film will be quite high. Moreover, the film is made on a massive budget once again and seeing the history of big-budget South Indian films sweeping over the country, 'Saaho' could pose a real threat to its Bollywood counterparts. What's more, the film is also coming in Tamil and Telugu languages so it will enjoy an extra number of screens. It will be interesting to see if the clash will be avoided in the future or not.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also pointed out that both 'Batla House' and 'Saaho' are associated with Bhushan Kumar, so it is unlikely that he will let the films clash with each other. In the meantime, Akshay's space-themed film released went on floors a few weeks back midst controversy. A filmmaker from the United States had alleged copyright infringement on the makers of 'Mission Mangal', to which producer R Balki had responded that it was not really possible. Other than this, Akshay also has two other films coming out in 2019.
