Jayalalithaa biopic to make Kangana Ranaut the industry's highest-paid actress, here's how much she stands to earn from 'Thalaivi'

After receiving huge appreciation for about her performance in her directorial debut film 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi', Kangana Ranaut is now all set to play the role of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. The same was announced by the actress on the occasion of her 32nd birthday. In an official statement, Ranaut stated that she has begun prepping for her role and that she will learn Tamil in order to understand the character better after she is done with her work commitments related to 'Panga' and 'Mental Hai Kya'.
The movie titled 'Thalaivi' narrates the life of the legendary Tamil actor turned politician, whose cadre revered her as their Amma (mother). It will be directed by 'Devi' filmmaker AL Vijay and trade analyst Ramesh Bala confirmed the news on his Twitter handle and shared the poster of the film. He wrote: "#KanganaRanaut will play the lead role as Former CM #Jayalalithaa in her biopic #Thalaivi. @gvprakash Music. DOP #NiravShah. #DirectorVijay to direct and to be produced by @vishinduri for @vibri_media"

Now, reports suggest that with the film in her kitty, Kangana Ranaut has become India’s highest paid female actor as she will take home Rs 24 crore for the biopic. As per media reports, Kangana is being paid to the tune of Rs 24 crore for the film which will be released in both Hindi and Tamil. The producers have reportedly already signed a contract with her as they are quite confident that Kangana's star power will help reach a pan-India audience.
This is the first time when a female actor in the film industry is roped for such a huge amount. In fact, not all A-list male stars bag this much amount for their films. The film is being scripted by KV Vijayendra Prasad who has previously written critically acclaimed ventures like 'Baahubali' and 'Manikarnika'. The project will be jointly produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh.

Jayalalithaa was one of India's most powerful politicians and government official who served as the leader of the All India Dravidian Progressive Federation (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam; AIADMK), in Tamil Nadu state. She was also a successful actress and featured in some 130 films between 1964 and 1980. Jayalalitha Jayaram commonly referred to "Amma" served five terms as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for over fourteen years between 1991 and 2016 before she passed away on December 5, 2016, suffering cardiac arrest.
