Jigra Box Office Day 2: The Alia Bhatt -Vedang Raina starrer hit the big screens on October 11, a day before the Dussehra holiday. While the first-day collection of the film remained modest, the business is expected to grow on day 2, owing to Dussehra. Trade analyst Sumit Kadel took to his X (formerly Twiter) account to share the potential collection of Jigra at the box office on day 2.
Jigra expected to register growth at the box office on day 2
Jigra opened to a decent ₹4.55 crore in India on day 1. While the collection appears modest, it remains Alia Bhatt 's lowest opener in 10 years. The film has been reviving largely negative word of mouth, discouraging cinegoers from watching Jigra on the big screen. Additionally, a clash with Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is also acting as a deterrent for the film.
Trade analyst Sumit Kadel took to his X account to share that while the first day collections remained poor the Alia Bhatt starrer will gain pace on the second day. Owing to the Dussehra holiday, he has predicted that Jigra will mint nearly ₹6-7 crore on the second day of its theatrical run. Early estimates by trade tracking site Sacnilk have also shared a projection of the film's collection. At the time of publishing, the site mentioned that the film had minted ₹ 5.32 Cr taking its total to ₹9.87 Cr.
Jigra clouded with negative reviews, accusations of fake bookings
Actress Divya Khossla, who was last seen in the movie Savi, has launched a scathing attack on Bollywood superstar Alia Bhatt over the latter’s recently released theatrical movie Jigra. Divya accused Alia of putting up fake collections as she said, "khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye". On Saturday, Divya took to the Stories section of her Instagram, shared a picture of an empty theatre running the show of Jigra, and shared how theatres are witnessing practically zero footfalls for the Alia Bhatt starrer.
She wrote in the picture, “Went to Citi Mall PVR for ‘Jigra’ show. Theatre was totally empty ... all theaters going empty everywhere. #Aliabhatt me sach mein Bahut #Jigra hai, khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye. Wonder why paid media is silent #weshdnotfooltheaudience #truthoverlies #HappyDussehra”. Divya's sentiment was echoed by several other social media users who alleged that the makers of Jigra have been showcasing false bookings of the film despite shows being cancelled because of no occupancy.
