I was left in the dark: Bijou Thaangjam
Taking to his X handle, Bijou shared two written posts narrating the ordeal which dates back to 2023. He started his note by writing, "I'm not here to jump on the bandwagon with the Jigra controversy over alleged copying of Divya Khossla's Savi, but I've been keeping my own experience with the Jigra team under wraps for a white and maybe it's time to speak up."
Recalling, Bijou wrote that he was approached by their casting team to audition for a role, He sent his tapes twice over the span of 4 months, playing along with their timeline. By the end of November, they told him that he would be shooting in December, but never gave him any confirmed dates. They booked him for the entire month of December but received "no real updates" on when he'd be needed. Owing to this, he lost on several projects.
"For actors like me from the Northeast, it felt particularly dismissive, almost discriminatory. My time was wasted and I missed out on other oppurtunities just because they expected I'd be available at a moment's notice," he further mentioned in his note.
Sharing the note, he wrote, "I’m not writing this with any agenda or accusations. I just want to share the reality of how actors like me from the Northeast are often treated by big production houses. Hopefully, this sheds some light on what we face. "
