Vijay Deverakonda defended his ‘Arjun Reddy’ director Sandeep Reddy Vanga after a row over his comment that lovers need to be at liberty to slap each other, while justifying the violence in the Hindi remake, 'Kabir Singh.' The actor stated that no one was willing to listen to Vanga’s comments, and that it could be possible that he was in such a relationship.

Vijay, in a recent interview with an entertainment portal, said that he could understand Sandeep Reddy Vanga and why people had an issue with his statement. The actor said that no one was willing to listen to what the director wants to say.
He stated that it was possible that Vanga was in a relationship as seen in ‘Kabir Singh/Arjun Reddy’, where they wanted to abuse each other, but at the end of the day, were happy and in love with each other.

Vijay stated that the story could’ve from a personal capacity and that it wasn’t being generalised. The ‘NOTA’ actor said that his ‘Arjun Reddy’ director was right in his way and that was how love was for him.
He said that since Vanga and the woman loved each other, it was not a big deal and that we should listen to him and be okay with it.

Vijay added that we are unique individuals and have unique relationships, but we always expect everyone to be like us and have the same opinions like us, but that’s not how it works.
Earlier, South actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Sona Mohapatra, and others had slammed Vanga for his comment that if a couple didn’t have the liberty to slap each other, there was no emotion of love at all.

Nevertheless, ‘Kabir Singh’ has turned out to be the highest-grossing film of the year, earning over Rs 270 crore in over a month. The movie stars Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in lead roles.
