Kangana Ranaut-Journalist Ugly Spat: Ekta Kapoor's apology doesn't do the trick, Entertainment Journalists' Guild to continue ban on Kangana

Ekta Kapoor's banner Balaji Telefilms on Wednesday expressed regret over actor Kangana Ranaut's spat with a PTI journalist during a promotional event for the film "Judgementall Hai Kya".

Ekta Kapoor's banner Balaji Telefilms on Wednesday expressed regret over actor Kangana Ranaut's spat with a PTI journalist during a promotional event for film "Judgementall Hai Kya".

In a statement, banner said it would like to apologise as "untoward incident" happened at ir event on Sunday. "A lot is being reported about debate that ensued between our film 'JudgeMentall Hai Kya' actor and journalist Justin Rao, at film's song launch event on July 7, 2019. Unfortunately, event took an unpleasant turn. 

"While people involved in it fairly held ir own perspectives but because it happened at event of our film, we, as producers, would like to apologize and express regret for this untoward incident. We would like to maintain that our intention was t to disrespect or hurt anyone's sentiments," statement re.

guild has w responded to above statement and here's re clarification -

production house also hoped media will t "let this one incident hamper team effort that has gone behind making film". statement comes a day after a delegation from Entertainment Journalists' Guild of India met Kapoor and conveyed ir decision to boycott Ranaut.

Members of Guild demanded a public apology from both Kapoor and Ranaut, journalists present at Tuesday's meeting said. "We, as a guild, have collectively decided to boycott Ms Ranaut and t give her any media cover," delegation said in its letter to Kapoor, ding that boycott will t affect film or rest of cast.

members said in letter that Ranaut h lashed out at journalist even before he could complete question he was asking at press conference to promote film on pretext that he was running a "smear campaign" against her.

Ranaut h also accused Rao of writing negatively about her film "Manikarnika". journalist denied allegations and actor's claim that he personally messd her and spent three hours in her vanity van. He said he met actor briefly for an interview and re were personal messs.

Ranaut's sister Rangoli Chandel said on Twitter that actor will t apologise. "I promise one thing that re will be apology from Kangana," she tweeted and described journalists as anti-national.

"Judgementall Hai Kya", which also features Rajkummar Rao, is scheduled to be released on July 26.
