Kangana Ranaut opines on 'Tandav' row, calls content 'creatively poor' and 'atrocious'

Reacting to 'Tandav' controversy, Kangana Ranaut on Monday said that the series was 'creatively poor, atrocious and objectionable on every level'.

Tandav, a nine-episode political thriller starring Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapia and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, started streaming last week and is neck-deep in trouble with loud calls for its boycott and an FIR against its makers in Luckw. At centre of row is a scene with Zeeshan, in role of college student Shiva, playing Hindu God Mahev in a atre production.

'Tandav' Makers Release Statement

Taking cognisance of complaints about web series, Ministry of Information and Brocasting on Sunday sought an explanation from Amazon Prime Video on issue. Responding to row, makers released an official statement on Monday evening and apologised "unconditionally" for hurting sentiments.

"We have been closely monitoring viewer reactions to web series ‘Tandav’ and today during a discussion, Ministry of Information and Brocasting have informed us regarding a large number of grievances and petitions received on various facets of web series with serious concerns and apprehensions regarding its content hurting sentiments of people.
 
web series ‘Tandav’ is a work of fiction and any resemblance to acts and persons and events is purely coincidental. cast and crew did t have any intention to offend sentiments of any individual, caste, community, race, religion or religious beliefs or insult or outr any institution, political party or person, living or de. cast and crew of ‘Tandav’ take cognizance of concerns expressed by people and unconditionally apologize if it has unintentionally hurt anybody’s sentiments.'
