Kangana Ranaut's Emergency Finally Gets Release Date, Epic Saga To Hit Theatres In January 2025

Emergency Movie Release Date: Kangana Ranaut starrer which is based on life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and India's dark history, Emergency, was supposed to release on September 6. However, it hit a roblock when Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) refused to green-light film for release. After around a month-long battle with CBFC and court, in second week of October, CBFC gave m a nod. Now, weeks later, Kangana has announced release of Emergency.

Kangana Ranaut's Emergency to FINALLY release in January 2025

On Monday, Kangana took to her social media handle to announce release date. In movie, she plays titular role of Indira Gandhi and this announcement has come just a day ahe of former's birth anniversary. She wrote in caption, “17th January 2025 – epic saga of nation’s most powerful woman and moment that altered India’s destiny. #Emergency – Unveils Only in cinemas”.

film is set during period of Emergency in 1970s imposed by late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. film promises to offer a gripping exploration of one of most spoken-about chapters in Indian democracy.

film is written, directed, and helined by Kangana Ranaut, and it marks her second directorial after Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi.

Emergency movie runtime revealed after CBFC directed cuts and modifications

On October 17, Kangana Ranaut took to her social media to confirm that CBFC has given her film Emergency a go-ahe for release. She shared that movie has been granted certification and will be released soon. Apart from helining movie, actress also serves as director of Emergency.

It was earlier reported that CBFC directed 17 cuts and modifications in Emergency. However, speaking in Court CBFC counsel Abhinav Chandrachud told bench that cuts would not touch even one minute and won't affect movie's length. A certificate of movie now viral shows total runtime of Kangana Ranaut starrer set at 146 minutes (2 hours and 26 minutes). political drama has been granted a U/A certificate.

Apart from Kangana, movie also stars Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpe, Vishak Nair, and late Satish Kaushik.
