Emergency Movie Release Date: The Kangana Ranaut film was scheduled to hit the big screen on September 6. However, it hit a roadblock when the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) refused to green-light the film for release. This was followed by the makers moving to Court and the board finally issuing a certification for Emergency, deeming it fit to release but only with required modifications. The CBFC certificate of the movie displaying the runtime is now viral on social media.

Emergency movie runtime revealed after CBFC directed cuts and modifications

On October 17, Kangana Ranaut took to her social media to confirm that the CBFC has given her film Emergency a go-ahead for release. She shared that the movie has been granted certification and will be released soon. Apart from headlining the movie, the actress also serves as the director of Emergency.

It was earlier reported that the CBFC has directed 17 cuts and modifications in Emergency. However, speaking in the Court the CBFC counsel Abhinav Chandrachud told the bench that the cuts would not touch even one minute and won't affect the movie's length. A certificate of the movie now viral shows the total runtime of the Kangana Ranaut starrer set at 146 minutes (2 hours and 26 minutes). The political drama has been granted a U/A certificate.

Why was the Emergency movie release date postponed?

The release of Emergency was riddled with controversies as soon as the makers released the film's trailer. An apex Sikh religious body accused the film of portraying the community in a negative light, demanding a ban on its release. The CBFC then stalled the movie's release citing that it would cause communal unrest if released.

Thus, a review committee was set up before granting a certificate to the movie. The committee suggested cuts and appropriate modifications in the Kangana Ranaut starrer. During the hearing on September 30, advocate Sharan Jagtiani, representing Zee Entertainment, told the Bombay High Court that Kangana Ranaut had informed them about the revised changes that the CBFC wanted to make in the film. The matter has been agreed and discussed between her (Kangana) and the CBFC, he said.
