Kangana Ranaut to perform a grand retro number in Jayalalithaa biopic

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut who is all set to essay the lead role in the upcoming Jayalalithaa biopic will be shooting a grand retro song for the film.

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut who is all set to essay the lead role in the upcoming biopic of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa will be shooting a grand song for the film. As per media reports, the actress who is taking regular Bharatnatyam classes will be seen performing with over 100 background dancers. While details about the title or theme of the song are yet to be revealed, media reports suggest that it will be choreographed by renowned South Indian choreographer Gayathri Raghuram and will have a distinctly retro vibe.

Jayalalithaa biopic

The movie titled 'Jaya' in Hindi and 'Thalaivi' in Tamil narrates the life of the legendary actor turned politician, whose cadre revered her as their Amma (mother). The Kangana Ranaut starrer will be directed by 'Devi' filmmaker AL Vijay and has been scripted by K.V. Vijayendra Prasad who has previously written critically acclaimed ventures like 'Baahubali' and 'Manikarnika'. Writer Rajat Arora who has penned films like 'The Dirty Picture' and 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbai' has also contributed to the script of Jayalalithaa biopic. The project will be jointly produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh.

Kangana Ranaut made the announcement of the making of the film on the occasion of her 32nd birthday. In an official statement, Ranaut stated that she has begun prepping for her role and that she will learn Tamil in order to understand the character better. Moreover, reports suggest that with the film in her kitty, Kangana Ranaut has become India’s highest-paid female actor beating several A-list male stars. As per media reports, Kangana Ranaut is being paid a whopping amount of Rs 24 crore for the film which will be released in both Hindi and Tamil. The producers have reportedly already signed a contract with Kangana Ranaut as they are quite confident that her star power will help reach a pan-India audience.

Jayalalithaa was one of India's most powerful politicians and government official who served as the leader of the All India Dravidian Progressive Federation (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam; AIADMK), in Tamil Nadu state. Jayalalithaa was also a successful actress and featured in some 130 films between 1964 and 1980. Jayalalitha Jayaram commonly referred to 'Amma' served five terms as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for over fourteen years between 1991 and 2016 before she passed away on December 5, 2016, suffering cardiac arrest.

What's next for Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut who recently appeared in 'Judgementall Hai Kya' opposite Rajkummar Rao, will next be seen in 'Panga' which has been directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. Meanwhile, on the work front, Kangana's latest outing 'Judgementall Hai Kya' has hit theatres on July 26 and was widely appreciated by the audience and the critics. The film also starred Rajkummar Rao in the lead. Kangana Ranaut will be next seen in  Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's 'Panga' and acton film 'Dhaakad'.
