Karan Johar made his writing and directorial debut with the film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Released on October 16, 1998, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai emerged as the highest-grossing film of the year and also emerged as a trendsetting film. The film is still popular to this day for its timeless entertainment content, the fashionable looks of its lead star cast, Karan Johar's direction and the chartbuster music, composed by Jatin-Lalit. The album went on to become the best-selling soundtrack of 1998.

1. Yeh Ladka Hai Deewana 

The first song that appears in the film is this one. It is picturised on Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol and shot in Mauritius. The vocals are provided by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik. This song as a fun and youthful vibe that is fresh to this day.

2. Koi Mil Gaya 

Another youthful and peppy number from the film is this song. It is picturised on the lead trio. Along with Udit Narayan and Alka Yagniik, Kavita Krishnamurthy also provided the vocals for the song. It is during this song that Anjali realises that while she loves Rahul, he is probably in love with Tina.

3. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai 

The title track of the film featured the lead trio- Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji. It was picturized amidst the scenic countryside of Scotland. Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik provided the soulful vocals for the song, and Alka Yagnik even won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer. The title track is one of the most loved songs in Bollywood history.

4. Saajan Ji Ghar Aaye 

This song appeared in the second half of the film. It was used to introduce Salman Khan's character, Aman. With vocals provided by Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik, Saajan Ji Ghar Aaye is one of those songs that is often played at sangeets. And one cannot miss Salman's handsome look in the all-black three-piece outfit. 

5. Ladki Badi Anjani Hai

Ladki Badi Anjani Hai is sung by Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik. It appears in the second half of the film when Rahul and Anjali meet after eight long years. Both of the characters also reprise their earlier looks in the film for this song. It was a chartbuster upon release.
