Kumkum’s death: 'Lalkaar' actor passes away at 86, Lata Mangeshkar mourns

Kumkum's death at the age of 86 has resulted in the loss of yet another talent in the industry. The veteran actor was known for her performance in Lalkaar.

Kumkum was seen alongside Dharmendra in Lalkaar

Kumkum was well-kwn for her performance in film Lalkaar. actor was seen alongside Dharmendra, Rajendra Kumar, and Mala Sinha in 1972 film. Kumkum was introduced in film industry by legendary actor and filmmaker Guru Dutt. Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar offered her condolences on actor's passing away. She took to her Twitter to express her sness on unfortunate news of Kumkum's demise. Take a look.

Kumkum was seen in hit track Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar Lagti Hai Nazar

She gained prominence with her performance in cult dance number, Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar Lagti Hai Nazar from 1954 film Aar Paar. Apart from that, actor was seen in many commercially successful as well as critically acclaimed movies like Kohior, Mor India, Ek Sapera Ek Lootera, Ujala, Raja Aur Rank, Naya Daur, Geet, and Aankhen. For unversed, actor h also been part of Bhojpuri film fraternity.

She was seen in 1963 Bhojpuri movie, Ganga Maiyya Tohe Piyari Chhaibo. film was incidentally also first movie to be me in Bhojpuri. In a glorious career spanning over two deces, actor h worked in over 100 movies. She h reportedly left film industry after her wedding. actor was last seen in film, Ek Kunwari Ek Kunwara which was released in year 1973. movie also starred Rakesh Roshan and Leena Chandrvarkar in pivotal roles.

actor was born on April 23, 1934, as Zaibunissa. She later married Sajj Akbar Khan. For unversed, actor was also a trained Kathak dancer. Incidentally, song Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar Lagti Hai Nazar which catapulted actor into an overnight sensation h come to her after several A-list actors h refused it, labeling it as a small song as compared to ir caliber. iconic track Yeh Hai Bombay Meri Jaan from 1956 film CID was also picturized on Kumkum. She also h a small role in cult film Pyaasa. Reportedly cause of actor's death is still unkwn but industry has inevitably lost yet ar gem after her demise.
