Laal Kaptaan will mark Saif Ali Khan's return to the big screen after the success of Sacred Games season two. The film is a revenge-drama where Saif is seen playing an unusual role. The actor has made very versatile choices with his work and has an interesting line-up of movies in future. Laal Kaptaan also features Sonakshi Sinha and Zoya Hussain in pivotal roles.

Just minutes after the trailer for Laal Kaptaan dropped, praises for Saif's transformation and performance started dropping in over social media. While some were quick to point out the similarities of looks between Jack Sparrow and Saif's character, others were praising him for his dedication and transformation. According to news agency Press Trust of India, actor Sonakshi Sinha will be making a special appearance in the film. The character she plays will be small in length but will have a great impact on the film. The film is directed by Navdeep Singh who previously directed NH10 with Anushka Sharma. Produced by Anand L Rai and Eros International, Laal Kaptaan will release on October 18, 2019.
