Laxmii is a 2020 Indian Hindi-langu comedy horror film written and directed by Raghava Lawrence, marking his directorial debut in Hindi film industry. horror film is a remake of Tamil film Kanchana, which released back in year 2011. movie, rar than releasing in atres, chose to go OTT way because of COVID-19 pandemic and revolved around  man who gets possessed by ghost of a trans person. According to Hotstar, horror-comedy flick starring Kiara vani was mainly shot indoors in a studio in city of Mumbai, Maharashtra. Although majority of scenes were filmed in Mumbai, popular track from Laxmii titled Burj Khalifa was shot on location, in Dubai. A fan took to his Twitter handle and shared a glimpse of temple, where climax scene of horror film was shot.

first schedule of filming began on April 22, 2019, while next installment commenced in August 2019, with song Burj Khalifa being shot in January 2020, a few months before nationwide lockdown. climax scene of film was shot in Mumbai on February 26, 2020, and filming was completed on March 1, 2020. While it streamed on Disney+Hotstar in India, it released in atres in  United Arab Emirates, Fiji, Australia, and New Zealand.

film focused on trans community and featured a man getting possessed by ghost of a trans. It showcases how  spirit of a trans person seeks revenge from a powerful and crooked MLA, who wrongfully took over her land and killed her along with her family. Laxmii was originally scheduled for a atrical release on May 22, 2020, but release was postponed due to  COVID-19 pandemic. It finally saw light of day in month of vember and was first big-budget Bollywood film to stream on an OTT platform.  rights to stream film were sold to platform at an amount of nearly Rs 100 crores.
